Can’t Acknowledge Chrome Popups on Android

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+. Sometimes I will go to a website that needs my location and it will popup a message asking if this website can have access to my location. I try to click “yes” but nothing happens. If I try to click “no” nothing happens either. All I can do is click the back button and the website can’t have access to my location.

After doing some troubleshooting and research I have discovered this issue can be caused then certain apps have “Draw over other apps” permission. Specifically, I found out that when I have a chat head open with Facebook Messenger that I cannot acknowledge the Chrome popups. When I remove the chat head off the screen I can then acknowledge the popups just fine.

I know I had this issue on my previous phone as well (Galaxy Note 8) so the Facebook Messenger chat head feature could have been the culprit there as well but I never did fully investigate the issue on that phone.

If you are experiencing this issue I suggest removing “Draw over other apps” permission from all your apps and then start adding it back one-by-one to those that need it. This way you can narrow down the offending app.

This issue has been driving me crazy for a long time so I hope it helps someone else out.
