I’m Back!

I'm Back

Well…it’s been since July 2014 since I’ve posted to my blog.  I’ve decided it’s time to start making periodic posts again.  My plan is to blog about topics of interest and things I think might be helpful to others.  Most of my time these days is spent at the daily work grind and outside of that it’s working at church or at home watching TV.

I have to admit I’ve been watching more TV this year than in years past.  My favorite TV shows right now are:

I’m excited for the return of Heroes in the new remake Heroes:Reborn.  It’s going to be staring one of my favorite actors, Zach Levi.  I hope it’s as good as the first make.

So what shows do you like to watch?  Drop me a comment and tell me.

Spring is arriving here in Greensboro.  I turned on my AC for the first time today.  I’m not liking these hot temperatures but it’s better than the cold weather.

With that I’ll say goodbye for now.  Have an awesome day!

Happy 4th of July!

fireworks

I had a great 4th of July and I’m thankful to have this day off.  My day was filled with getting some things done around the house and then I enjoyed an evening with the parents.  We finished it off by watching some local fireworks.  I’ve always enjoyed watching fireworks since I was a kid.  Once of these days I would love to go see a huge display somewhere like New York or Washington D. C.  That would be so cool.

So I thought it would be interesting to share some fun facts about related to the 4th of July that have found:

  • You can thank China for the American Flag.  Nearly 87.5% ($2.8 million) of all U.S. flags are imported to China.
  • You can also thank China for fireworks.  97% ($190.7 million) of fireworks imported into the U.S. are from China.
  • You can thank Iowa for HotDogs.  One out of ever four pork hot dogs consumed in the U.S. comes from Iowa.  If not Iowa, then most likely from North Carolina (who knew?) or Minnesota.
  • Enjoy your unpaid holiday.  Independence Day was made an official unpaid federal holiday by Congress in 1870.  It wasn’t until 1938 that Congress changed Independence Day to a paid federal holiday.
  • A salute of one gun for each state in the United States, called a “salute to the union,” is fired on Independence Day at noon by any capable military base.

So what did you do on this 4th of July?  Leave me a comment below.  I would love to hear about it.

I hope that you had a safe and fun holiday.  Now it’s time to enjoy the weekend.

Working Out With The Internet Lifestyle Network

Recently, my company, the Internet Lifestyle Network, has started a 90-day video challenge among its members.  The purpose of this challenge is to get everyone in the habit of consistently making videos which is key to effective video marketing.  I have accepted the challenge and this is my first video of ninety.

In addition to this video challenge I have also decided to challenge myself in the area of fitness.  It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a regular exercise schedule so I’ve decided to also be consistent with a daily workout routine.  Completing the video challenge will help grow my business and completing my fitness goals will help improve my health.  I believe being consistent in multiple areas of my life will make me a better person in the end.

You can watch my first video below.  Let me know what you think.  If you want to know more about the Internet Lifestyle Network visit my website here: www.FastSuccess.net

Leave me a comment and tell me what things you are changing in your life to make you a better person.  I look forward to reading what you have to say.  Until next post…have a great day!

Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity

image

I’m not a huge reader but one thing I’ve learned is that most successfull people tend to read one or more books per month. I’m trying to get in the habit of reading more. Currently I’m reading the book Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen. It’s all about how to organize things in such a way that you can always get stuff done.

I currently have this book in my Kindle app. which makes it easy for me to read from my smartphone or tablet. I find is a great way to get reading in since anytime I have a free moment I can just pick up my device and read. The Kindle app is great because you can stop on one device and pick up where you left off on another. I’m about 35% into this book and so far is been really good. If you need help getting things organized them check it out.

One thing I find is that’s it’s very difficult to focus on my online business while maintaining a full-time job at the same time. My hope is that once I can get some better habits in place I will be able to increase my productivity which will aid in my path to my success.

Welcome!

Welcome to my new website and blog.  My name is Travis Phillips and I’ve been on the internet since the days of dial-up.  If you remember CompuServ, GEnie,  or Prodigy then you’ve been online as long as I have.  I created my first web page back in the early 90’s and purchased my first domain, traviz.com when domains were considered pricey.

I enjoy computers…so much so I studied them in college and continue to work with them today in my job.   I also love music and singing and exploring business opportunities online.

I’m also involved with my church where I lead the media team and oversee all the technical stuff.  This includes audio, video, media presentation, etc.  Every once in a while I’ll come out of the sound booth and use my musical talents on stage.

Thanks for stopping by.  Feel free to leave me a comment or connect with me on social media.  I would love to hear from you.  I’ll be posting more as time permits. Take care and have an awesome day!
